Hello,
to my knowledge, in Windows Server 2012 r2 there are two options for multiple Remote Desktop session handling controled by GPO for the RD Session Host with the paramter 'Restrict Remote Desktop Services users to a single Remote Desktop Services session'.
If disabled users may open parallel RD sessions. But some programs do not allow mutliple instances to run, i.e., when trying to run such progam in each session it gets an error.
If enabled and a user opens a new second session while first one is still active, the first session is ended with the message 'Another user connected to the remote computer, so your connection was lost'. There is no warning that there was already an active session running with that user id (like it is shown on a workstation).
Is there any possibility to show a message to a user that is trying to open a new RD session while another one is still active with the same user ID (when 'Restrict Remote Desktop Services users to a single Remote Desktop Services session' is enabled)?
Thanks!
Uwe.
