Hi All,
I have a client operating 6 Windows 8.1 (64-bit) workstations which connect via RDS to a Windows 2012 Server. Most of their operation software is installed on the TS which is located in a data centre, accessible by their WAN connection. There is no VPN between the two sites.
At the client-end side, there is a Ricoh Aficio MP C3001 printer on the network and each of the workstations have the printer installed via the network using the Ricoh driver (PCL 6).
As per many complaints online, when printing within the TS session, the print job will sometimes complete fine. However on many occasions the print job will either simply appear to not print, or take literally hours to print a simple document. From what I gather, this is to do with how EasyPrint drivers convert the print job to an XPS and then transfer to the client for processing. If there is indeed no other solution, I would therefore like to disable EasyPrint and revert to the 'older' style of TS printing.
Question 1/ How do I disable EasyPrint on the server given this server is standalone and not a DC? All instructions I've seen use Group Policies, which I don't believe are the right option when not using a Domain Controller? (Correct me if I'm wrong).
Question 2/ Once EasyPrint is disabled, I am aware I need to have the same driver installed on the server. How do I go about installing the driver on the server if the printer is not going to be physically detectable from the server's perspective.
Thanks very much for your assistance in advance.
