VM activity monitoring

We've just deployed a bunch of Windows 7 VDIs on our 2012 R2 Hyper-V environment and are looking for a way to determine which of them have current user activity, much like we were able to do in our old Server 2003 Terminal Services (via the Terminal Services Manager). Using the Configuration Manager we can establish Remote Control sessions to the VDIs but we are looking for a way to see if a user is logged in as well as if there is any current activity. Is there a way to do this natively or are there any third party apps that provide this functionality?
