Hi All
We currently distribute printers across business via 2012R2 print servers and GPPs using Item Level Targeting based on SGs. For performance reasons RemoteApp will distribute printers in the same manner. However the initial printer GPP processing time takes what seems forever to process (around 2 minutes) and of course is proportional to the number of printers assigned to users.
Subsequent application launch times (printer GPP processing) are fine as (I assume) the profile now houses user's printers, however we have 10 collections (across deployments) and are currently using UPDs; meaning for each and every initial collection connection the user suffers painfully slow application launch times, which for product launch doesn't present this speedy platform in its best light.
The use of GPP printers has been chosen in light of achieving printing performance (spooled data remains onsite) and therefore do not want to use redirected printers.
- With the same number of printers per user (typically 5-10) can the initial printers GPP be optimised somehow to distribute printers far more quickly?
- Perhaps printers can be merged into the template UPD somehow, to reduce this initial painful launch time users currently experience?
Any thoughts in how to reduce initial collection connection printer GPP processing times would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Lea
