As you all know, deploying a VDI infrastructure requires purchasing a certain number of VDA(VDI ...) licenses. This infrastructure includes (besides the Hyper-V itself) Remote Connection Broker role, RD Web role and ~VD host role.
Suppose there's a need to host a small number of virtual machines (say 5, for example) and none of services offered by the aforementioned roles are required. I can easily create 5 VMs using the Hyper-V alone and let customers RDP to them through VPN.
Q1) Should I purchase VDA licenses for this scenario if my customers will use desktop OS in their VMs?
Q2) --- if my customers will use Windows Server OS in their VMs?
