When the clients connect to the server the printer defaults to letter instead of the custom form size.
I have several users that remote into our Server 2008, some running Win XP Pro, some Windows 7 Pro. All have Oki Microline 390 printers on LPT1 that print to 3"x4" labels. On the client systems they have the printers configured with the custom form size"labels3x4" to be the default. This is set in General/Preferences/Advanced, Advanced/Printing Defaults/Advanced and Device Settings. I have the Oki Microline 390 driver installed on the server, and have defined a custom form size of 3x4 also called "labels3x4". When the clients connect, they are all using the OKI driver, and can go into General/Preferences/Advanced and change the form to labels3x4. However, this does not change the default type, nor is it something they should have to do every time. All options under Device Settings and Advanced are grayed out so they can't even make the needed changes there. I have added the users to the Printer Operators group, but this still doesn't allow them to make the change. I have this problem even when logging in as Administrator. Due to other users having speed issues printing from a different application I have disabled use Easy Print first (takes ~2 hours to print a single page with Easy Print or 10 seconds using the HP 4 driver).
How can I get the system to default to the custom size automatically when the clients connect?
