Sorry in advance, this is a total noob question. Due to the lack of knowledge where I'm currently working I've been thrown into a few roles I'm not used to.
I'm implementing Remote Desktop Services on a new Windows Server 2012 R2 environment. I've been following along with a few documents and everything is pretty straightforward. BUT I haven't been able to find a definitive answer to... if I do not require High Availability on my RD Connection Broker, why do I need a SQL Server instance? We already spun up a SQL VM for other reasons so it's not an issue if we do, but I haven't found any reason we would need it for anything else related to RDS.
Can anyone give a definite "No, you do not require it for RDS services aside from HA"?
Thanks!
